Andy Murray eat your heart out: Willie Renshaw won the Wimbledon singles no fewer than seven times, with five doubles titles to his name there too, all in the 1880s. He was chosen as the first President of the LTA, and was the first well-known player to suffer from what became known as tennis elbow – he played year round, in England in the warm months, and on the Riviera at other times.
