BOOK MANCHESTER HOTELS

Rosalind Mitchison
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Manchester, Greater Manchester
Born on 11th of April 1919
Died on 19th of September 2002

It was no surprise that Rosalind Michison became a celebrated social historian, given that was effectively the family business, her father and grandfather both historians of note. Her field was Scottish history, to which she brought a new perspective, dealing with rural issues and the poor where previously the emphasis had tended to national politics and high culture. She taught at the universities of Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
