Quotes from Christine Keeler

'I took on the sins of everybod'... More

Christine Keeler’s fame rests solely on her part in the Profumo Affair that threatened for a time to bring down the government of Harold Macmillan, and delightfully exposed Lord Astor to national ridicule. She had a brief liaison with then Secretary of State for War John Profumo, while (possibly) involved with a Russian naval attaché. Profumo denied the affair in Parliament, was found out, and had to resign. She has published several books about the scandal, but is more likely to be remembered for the iconic sixties portrait of her astride a plywood chair than for anything she has penned.

Brit Quote:
Only in Britain could it be thought a defect to be too clever by half. The probability is that too many people are too stupid by three-quarters. - John Major
