Educated at King’s College, London. Known for the so-called Higgs mechanism which predicts the existence of a new particle, the Higgs boson. Has been awarded a number of prizes including the 1997 High Energy and Particle Physics Prize by the European Physical Society and the 2004 Wolf Prize in Physics.
