Born 1517. Died 1583 - Anglican clergyman.

Known as the Apostle of the North. Studied at Queen’s College, Oxford and in Paris. Became archdeacon of Durham in 1556 and rector of Houghton le Spring in 1558. Made many journeys into remote parts of northern England to preach.
