Elias Ashmole
Born in Lichfield, StaffordshireBorn on 23rd of May 1617
Died on 18th of May 1692
Born 1617. Died 1692 - English antiquary.
He qualified as a lawyer in 1638 and combined work for the Royalist cause with the study of topics such as mathematics, natural philosophy, astronomy, astrology and alchemy. In 1677 he presented a collection of rarities to Oxford University thus founding the Ashmolean Museum, built in 1682.
