Attraction in Lambeth
The Garden Museum tells the story of gardens through the ages, using
an extensive collection of antique tools, exhibitions and displays about
great gardeners of the past.
Housed in a former church next door to Lambeth Palace, the Museum has
transformed the old churchyard into a replica 17th century knot garden
filled with plants authentic to the period. The tombs of the Tradescants,
plant hunters and royal gardeners to the Stuarts and that of William Bligh of the Bounty are also well preserved. Also the burial place of Elias Ashmole .
The Museum provides refreshments, light meals, books and gifts.
The Museum runs a programme of lectures, courses and events complementing
current exhibitions, details of which are available on the Museum website.
The Museum and garden are available for private and corporate hire in the
evenings.
