Born 1819 - Schloss Rosenau, near Coburg, Germany. Died 1861 - husband of Queen Victoria.


Prince consort to Queen Victoria, he married his first cousin in 1840, and this was to become a life-long love match. His interest in the arts prompted him to plan and manage the Great Exhibition of 1851, and from the profits he built the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum, and later the Royal Albert Hall (1871).
