Tuesday 13th October 2009 Scottish castle in the pink
Craigievar Castle, near Alford in Scotland is in the pink after owners
National Trust decided to restore the original lime harling, or
rendering, to the castle walls. Experts agree that the resulting shade
of pink is the how the castle would have originally appeared when
built in the 17th Century. The effect isn’t exactly shocking pink,
more a gentle shade of salmon but all the same, it may take some
visitors by surprise!

Project manager Ian Davidson admitted: "It would be fair to say that
visitors to the castle will notice a change."

Those of you suffering long drawn out building works won’t be
surprised to hear that the castle has been shrouded in scaffolding for
almost two years while the new lime harl was applied. The facelift on
the Aberdeenshire landmark has cost £500,000. Grampian

Wednesday 9th September 2009 Sticky end for treacle stunt pair
A pair who staged a protest at the Offshore Europe event at the
Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre have ended up in court
charged with disorderly conduct. The pair staged a demonstration that
allegedly involved them stripping naked and smothering themselves with
treacle, presumably to simulate an oil spillage.

The four-day event is one of the biggest conferences for the oil and
gas industry and attracts representatives from companies all over the
world. The pair have been released on bail on the condition that they
go nowhere near the exhibition centre before their court hearing, due
to be held at the Aberdeen Sheriff Court in January. Grampian

Friday 4th September 2009 Moray Floods
Grampian police have had a busy 24 hours after the area was inundated
with heavy rain. Hundreds of homes in Moray are flooded and the local
authority have declared it a major incident. The flooding even closed
the A1 and caused severe disruption on the East Coast Mainline’s rail
services.

Many residents are unhappy to find water in their homes again. One
resident of the Moray area told the BBC:

"We're absolutely not happy, we were flooded here 12 years ago, the
same bridge, same problem, and we were promised that it would be
replaced with a steel bridge or a single arch bridge, concrete or
whatever, and nothing has been done." Grampian
