Monday 6th July 2009 Rollercoaster record falls to North Yorkshire theme park
Flamingo Land theme park in North Yorkshire is celebrating after finding out that it will enter the Guinness Book of Records. An official adjudicator visited the park for the opening of their new rollercoaster ride and declared it officially to be the world’s steepest. The Mumbo Jumbo ride opened to the public on Saturday, complete with a 112 degree incline that plunges passengers down from the ride’s heady 98ft peak.

Taking a ride on the new steel rollercoaster will expose you to around 4Gs, almost up there with the extremes experienced by jet fighter pilots! Flamingo Land, which is located near Malton in North Yorkshire, claim their ride is one degree steeper than the nearest rival, which isn’t actually very near at all - it’s in far away in Indiana, USA!
