The church of The Holy Ghost is in a 15th Century Tithe Barn, and is served by Benedictine Monks. Or perhaps visit Nunnery Castle, this enchanting castle was built in 1373 although today in ruins, the deep Moat is fed by a stream that runs through the village close by. Midsomer Norton is only 12 miles from the mystical and spectacular sight of Cheddar Gorge, that once explored will leave it’s visitors wide eyed with wonderment, the Gorge cuts though the limestone of the Mendips with caves and so much more to be explored. The cathedral sized caverns are a triumph of nature that date back a million years, take a look at Britain’s oldest complete skeleton , with exhibits explaining how life really was, or accept the challenge of the Crystal Quest which involves a dragon, wizards, goblins and of course fairy princesses. Once outside as you dare to climb the 274 steps of Jacobs ladder to the top of the Mendip Hills, cliff walks will take you on a journey through 300 acres of Nature Reserve……. Magical.
