Welcome to The Blacksmith's Arms, Flaxton. The Owners would like to offer a warm & friendly welcome to you at The Blacksmith's Arms at Flaxton. Built in the 1700s as a coaching inn, and now over 250 years old, The Blacksmiths Arms has retained much of its charm and character. All of the food is cooked to order, with meat, fish, and vegetables coming from local sources, and a large selection of daily specials. There is always an excellent range of traditional ales on offer, including Black Sheep, Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Theakston, and York Brewery's Guzzler. Bed & Breakfast Accomodation is available in our three charming rooms, and is ideal for anybody attending weddings or other functions at Sandburn Hall. Flaxton is situated nine miles north-east of York, just off the A64. Local attractions include Castle Howard, Eden Camp, and Sandburn Hall Golf Club. At The Blacksmith's Arms, the emphasis is on good, traditional food, with meat, fish, and vegetables all coming from local sources. Everything is cooked to order, right down to the proper chips! The varied menu changes regularly, with a large selection of daily specials, but signature dishes include the Flaxton Flipper, a 12-14oz Haddock in beer batter, and homemade Beef in Guinness Pie. The Sunday Roast, with homemade gravy, is always popular. Vegetarian dishes are always available. Food is served daily, and booking is advisable at busy times. Birthday parties, Celebrations etc, welcome. We offer Bed & Breakfast accomodation in three charming rooms, each retaining many of the original features of the building. The Byland Room room has a double bed and an ensuite shower room. The Kirkham Room has a double bed and a quaint bathroom built into the eaves. The Rievaulx Room has a double bed, an additional single bed, and a double sofa bed, with a large bathroom. Families welcome.
