The Crown is a 16th century coaching inn. It has been tastefully modernised giving maximum comfort to guests without losing its wonderful Old World charm. The hotel overlooks the Market Square in Helmsley - a small, delightful market town in the heart of Ryedale. On the edge of the beautiful North York Moors, it is less than an hours drive to the coastal resorts of Whitby (Heartbeat Country), Scarborough and Filey, and to the South the historic city of York. Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey and Nunnington Hall are just a few of the many places of interest close by.

The Crown is a family run hotel well known for its warm and friendly atmosphere and its consistency of offering traditional English cooking to a very high standard. There are two Bars serving traditional ale. We also serve homemade meals using local produce, these are served at lunch and and in the evening in the bar or lounge area in front of a cosy open fire.

There are twelve bedrooms in the main house no two are the same - a feature you would expect in such an interesting building. There are 6 further bedrooms located in the converted barn and stables as well as a ground floor residents lounge with cosy fire.
