Lacey Green Windmill is the oldest smock mill in England. It stands on the Chiltern escarpment to take full advantage of the prevailing winds. It still has its original wooden machinery, dating from the mid 17th century. The mill was in use until 1915. It has now been restored back to working order by members of the Chiltern Society.
