The Magpie's Nest is a small but very friendly guesthouse, owned by local couple Billy and Chris Taylor. It has been tastefully decorated in red and cream to give a clean and spacious feel, whilst retaining the warmth and charm of the old Victorian house. All the rooms are ensuited and have power showers. Super kingsize beds are in the double rooms and blackout blinds are fitted so guests can enjoy a leisurely lie-in or nightshift workers can get some much needed rest.
The Magpie's Nest is situated right in the middle of Ocean Road, amongst numerous restaurants, opposite 'The Pier' a good old-fashioned English pub, 5 minutes away from the wine bars, nightclubs and livilier drinking establishments.
South Shields has it all, for the cultural, Arbeira Fort is only 5 minutes walk away. The reconstructed barrack rooms are now complete and it is jaw dropping to turn the corner of 21st century Britain and see Roman Britain in front of you.
It's just a stroll to the North and South Marine parks, with the boating lake, and swans and ducks, so used to visitors that they practically greet you at the gate. Ocean Pleasure Park is a must for the child in all of us. Sea air wouldn't be sea air without the smell of fish and chips, so indulge yourself and eat some straight out the paper on the beautiful sea front.
Chris and Billy make everyone feel welcome with good auld geordie hospitality. Whether you are a contractor or a tourist they will endeavour to make your stay an enjoyable one.
