Founded as a monastic house in the late 12th Century, Newstead Abbey became the Byron family seat in 1540 and was a private country house until 1931.
Inside the building there are medieval cloisters to explore, Victorian room settings and the private apartments of the poet Lord Byron.
Newstead Abbey's gardens are the perfect place to picnic and explore, with paths that meander through woodland and past lakes, ponds and waterfalls.
