Pulborough Brooks is set in the sheltered Arun Valley within the South Downs National Park. The visitor centre and reserve are open all year and boast a great variety of habitats including wetlands, woodland and heathland. Pulborough Brooks is a haven for a wide range of wildlife, and a fantastic day out for people of all ages.

Walks lead through hedge-lined paths to viewing areas and hides where volunteers are often on hand to help point out the wildlife. If you're new to nature, introductory events, guided walks and courses are held throughout the year. Binoculars are available to hire during your visit.

In winter, the flooded meadows teem with ducks, geese and swans, whilst in spring, wading birds such as lapwings and redshanks breed amongst the pools and ditches, and nightingales sing from the hedgerows. Then in the height of summer, butterflies and dragonflies take centre stage, flitting around the sunny hedge lined nature trail and ponds.

A heathland restoration project is already attracting woodlarks and nightjars, adding to the sheer variety this reserve has to offer.

When you're feeling peckish, the cafe awaits, where you can enjoy a delicious home cooked lunch. Or perhaps you will simply be tempted to try a scrumptious slice of cake with a refreshing fair-trade tea or coffee. Then complete your visit with a browse around the shop, which is stocked full of our extensive range of birdcare products, binoculars, books and gifts, or let the kids loose in the children's play area.

There are various children's and family events, plus discovery sheets and Explorer Backpacks available to hire during your visit.

Sorry, but dogs are not allowed on the wetland nature trail. Dogs on leads are welcome on the heathland trail, and on public footpaths and bridleways.
