The building was originally a Music School built in the Victorian era and known as St. Martins. It later became a retirement home and then for approximately 20 years it was a “Restaurant with Accommodation” known as La Belle Alliance until the present owners converted it into its present format.

The current owners Barbara and Robin Wrigley have tastefully decorated the house with many of the artifacts, rugs and paintings from their overseas travels. Portman Lodge offers 3 double full en suite bedrooms complete with colour television, trouser press, hair drier and tea and coffee making facilities. Each suite is individually decorated with it’s own theme. The lounge and dining room are large elegant rooms decorated with many of collected items from the owners travels.
