21st of March - St Benedicts Day

21st of March is the 80th day of the year

St Benedicts Day:
St Benedict in this country, as regards churches dedicated to his name, is better known as St Benet or St Bennet. His feast day for the Anglican Church remains as March 21st, said to be the day he died in 543, though Rome moved the date to July 11th some time ago. Benedict was the son of a noble Roman house who took himself away to the wilderness in disgust at the immorality of life, including religious life, in Rome. By his example and leadership a new monastic life was established, eventually following the rule of St Benedict, his 73-chapter guide to how monks should exist. This took some time to become established in Anglo-Saxon England, though it had a foothold before the Norman Conquest that saw it become firmly established here.
