Visited on way home and have to say what an awful experience it was. The barman was unfriendly, think he was the landlord, the food was cold, small portions and inedible. Was stared at when walked in pub by locals. The drinks were overpriced too. Wouldn t set foot in this place ever again.

The late October temperature was miraculously hitting 18 Celsius as we hit the Dog and Duck in Flamborough, which made the spooked up interior with Halloween days away seem slightly incongruous. The food hit the spot though, real pub grub and no portion control here – my gammon steak was massive, my son’s sirloin likewise, and my wife’s Tex-Mex chicken pancakes only slightly less so. Both hunks of meat were nicely prepared, though the sirloin veered to the medium side of rare contrary to request – but then most eateries find it hard to accept a kid prefers his beef still mooing. Chips good, homemade onion and tomato salad even better, but (only a minor grumble) why spoil things with tinned peas? The Black Sheep bitter was excellently kept, service was quick, and the midweek crowd showed that value-for-money pays dividends
