Stumbled accross the most amazing Sunday Lunch I have ever had!!!! My wife & myself were heading to Beamish Museum when we stopped of at the Beamish Mary Inn which is just off the rounabout to the museum. We were able to get a table in what was a very busy restaurant/lounge, had a couple of glasses of cask ale & tucked into our best ever Sunday Lunch. Just felt I had to say thank you & well done. We'll be back.

Thoroughly enjoyable! Some of the most fantastic ales I've ever tasted. My favourite was the Slipway. Visited on a day trip to nearby museum. Glad we called. The food was amazing!!! All homemade with really good chips. We were just calling in for Dinner, but stayed for a few more beers than we planned. Friendly locals. Made us really welcome, especially Dave & his crrew. Can't wait to come back. Considering staying overnight next time so that we can have more ale!!!!

I read the previous comments and must stress I totally disagree with them. The family paid a visit to Beamish Museum back in July and popped into the Beamish Mary Inn for Sunday lunch. We received a very warm welcome from I think her name was Sandra (Kids remembered her name)The pub was very busy however the found us a table and we enjoyed what could only be described as the best Sunday lunch in the North East. Fantastic value for money, great atmosphere and the kids enjoyed their time exploring the vast beer garden. I would thoroughly recommend a visit Regards DR

Sad news. Although the pub has been restored to it's previous layout, the atmosphere has gone. It felt like a pub that was trying too hard be an old pub. However having visited this pub on and off for nearly a decade, including biking there and staying for B&B, sad to say it failed miserably. Something is just not right about it now. I'm sure many people will go there and have a great visit but I'm afraid I'm not one of them. Maybe it will pick up and some of the old charm will return. I really hope it does.

This used to be a marvellous boozer. Great range of local real ales, eccentric but friendly staff and good, hearty English pub food. However, Graham the landlord has left an dthe new owners have surgically removed all atmosphere, they've knocked walls down so it's one big open bar. you don't get families or couples visiting anymore, just the locals (a nice bunch but loud and swear a lot). For all those with fond memories of the place - do yourself a favour, savour the memories but don't go back - you'll be hugely disappointed.
