Greatly disappointed with the Owner's arrogant and cavalier attitude. We were a party of 8, who had booked at least 2 months in advance, as we were spending the day at the Bude Jazz Festival. I had rung (Ben Jarvis) twice and discussed the booking, as we had been there the year before. On arrival, we discovered there was no booking for us. When questioned, he admitted he had failed to put it in the book, he recalled our telephone conversations but had made a mistake. He shrugged it off and offered no assistance in finding an alternative venue or even a later booking - anything! When we tried to complain, he manhandled one of our guests out of the door saying he did not want his customers to hear! I was dumbstruck. Because of the Jazz Festival, every restaurant was full. We ended up miles away. Two of our guests had to drive back to Plymouth and two others to Bristol. It ruined our day! Bad form ! I cannot condone this behaviour.

I visited Samphire recently for a friends birthday. She chose this restaurant as it is a new establishment in our area and I must say we were not in any way disapointed with the evening. We were made very welcome and the waiter and waitress made a lot of fuss of our table although they were quite busy at the time. I thought that the meal we were served was of an exceptionally high standard. We orderd a variety off their menu and evey one of us enjoyed what we had. My steak was cooked to perfection and the bottle of red recommended to us by our waiter was the perfect accompaniment! Those of us who had room left for dessert were again delighted and I thought that the presentation was exceptional. The only thing I can really have a little whine about is that we did seem to wait just a little longer for our dessert than the other courses, but by this point the restaurant was full, so that I can understand. My friends and I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and I am really looking forward to my next visit. I would recommend Samphire to everybody!

Well at last we have found a wonderful place to eat and drink in Bude. My husband who only really loves his steak said, his was most certainly the best tasting meat he has had in a long time and cooked to perfection Medium Rare. I had the fish of the day which was King fish never tasing this before it was exellent, with rosted veg and new potatoes. The service was second to none the whole evening was in fact wonderful the owner Ben was so intentive, checked with us that we were enjoying the food and wine and our reply was yes . Upon leaving we said we will return and we will. Thank you all at Samphire for a wonderful time .
