Good Points: Arrived on the 15th and got a very helpful receptionist. I explained that we had written to the manager regarding the level of noise when we last stayed in september. we were automatically upgraded and telephoned by manager.Excellent customer care Bad Points: While staying in Manchester I incurred a back injury. I telephoned the hotel to ask if we could have a room for one more night. I was quoted over and above the price I had paid the night before however after some consultation with the manager they said I could have the room for £50.00 with breakfast but no drinks in the bar ( minnd you this was on special offer and was not informed of this on my stay on the 15th. I was first placed in room 24 at the top of the hotel baring in mind I have had a slipped disc and explained that my movement was limited and found the room unacceptable but was aware it was a last minute booking. My husband ran the tap in the bathroom to get me some water to take some pain killer and the smell from the bathroom was like a sewer type smell this went into the bedroom. I immediately phoned the receptionist who asked us to come back down to reception and collect another room key she was the only one on duty so she was unable to leave the desk. we collected another key to room 30 again along walk and several flight of steps. in a grotty room bath had ingrained stain toilet did not flush properley however we settled down I made myself a drink and decided to watch the telly no remote control and when I turned it on it was so loud you could not turn it down. we tried to ring reception and rthe phone line did not work so my husband revisited reception who gave us another room 128.This was again a long walk and eventually at 23.00 I settled into an extremely nice bedroom. General review: Staff are extremely helpful all accomadation should be outlined clearly before charging customers.Breakfast was amazing. The accomadation in some of the rooms are of a high standard I would not let the other rooms out as it lets the hotel down. I would stay again as it is convienient when I visit my daughter at university and I do this at least every 2 months but I will look at other hotels in the area after this awful situation I incurred But the customer care is of high standard and that must be highlighted

Good Points: Location was good, breakfast was excellent, staff were efficient and friendly. Bad Points: I was given a single room that was in need of updating and was so small that I couldn't work at my lap top. The loo was particularly shabby. I asked to be moved and was given a double that was better but still showing the signs of wear. Why would anyone in this day and age fit a carpet in a toilet ..unhygenic, smelly ugh!!! There seemed to me to be a general smell of damp in the corridor that my rooms were on. I started out in room 88 and ended up in room 90. General Review: The info online said that the hotel had been refurbished. Neither of the rooms that I used showed recent evidence of that. A map as well as text would have helped me get from the ring road more easily.
