Best rates for a Local Hotel

This is one of the worst campsites we have ever stayed at which is a shame as it has a lot of potential. The location is good - a short drive from the beaches. The setting in lovely with the trees. However, the facilities were poorly maintained and for the size of the campsite there should have been more. At least 2 of the loos were out of order for our entire stay and frequently all the loos were out of paper. The worst thing though was the lack of security and standards. We were initially on the field by the swimming pool which is before the car barrier. That night our neighbours were up talking ludly till 2am! Then at 2:30am, some local teenagers crashed the field and threw stones at one of the cars. The owners were quite reasonable and let us relocate for our second night which was in a quieter part of the campsite. Security does need to be increased with more lighting along pathways and a proper barrier further down the entrance.

Please don't be fooled by the brochure for this touring park! We booked well in advance for a pitch at this site and were given a pitch squashed in under the trees with poor drainage. As soon as it rained the whole area flooded and tents, caravans and awnings are dangerously close (Health & Safety requirements totally ignored). The pool was freezing. The toilet blocks were dirty and there was no hot water for showers. Moral was low on this site as everyone squashed in with us were bitterly disappointed and cutting their holidays short. Each time we left our caravan for a day out we would return to find more tents, caravans and awning being crammed in next to us, the owners looking embarrassed and the site manager instructed us to move the car on our pitch so he could get more people in! Wish I had read the previous reviews for this site before booking.

This is a pretty site in a nice location. We found the facilities to be a little below average. The showers were quite old and in need of updating. The shop was not very well stocked. The washing up area is very limited as is the hot water. The swimming pool was not too warm, although we did visit on a wet week, it was still not very appealing. Would consider other sites in the area before returning to this site.

I have to say that I would never return to this camp site. The facilities have potential, but need updating and alot of money spent.I went to the showers and stood there for a good few minutes before deciding that I just could not get in!! They were very unclean and only 6 of them, so at busy times it was ridiculous. The tents and caravans were packed in like sardines. A group of us were camping which involved 5 tents, plus the cars we came in. We were squashed into a tiny narrow area and had to juggle cars and tents to get any kind of personal space, on top of all this, its expensive. Summary.......the pictures look good, but dont they always??!!

Beacon Hill was my fisrt camping experience and i have to say that i was not dissapointed. The park itself is well maintained and kept very tidy. The toilets and showers are allways clean and tidy with a continuos supply of hot water. The shop is well stocked and has fresh bread and milk every morning and the staff are very friendly and helpfull. I will be visiting again for the Bank Holiday if there are any spaces as i can immagine that they would be snapped up very quickley!

When friends suggested we go camping, i have to admit to feeling more than a little apprehensive, as it had been many years since i had last been. i was expecting a hut of shower blocks and nothing much else. i was totally surprised and un-prepared for the great facilities at Beacon Hill. The shower blocks were always clean, the water was always hot; i hadn't expected the room full of sinks for washing up, and the washing machines totally took me unawares!! i had not taken any form of hairdryer, as i did not expect the shower block to have electric sockets!! the tiolets were always clean and user-friendly..what a great place! The ONLY drawback was the camp shop was pretty pricey, but seemed well stocked for milk and bread. i had such a good time, i am going back this year. Can't wait!
