Haddenham, Buckinghamshire

Review of Haddenham by Christine Clements on May 12th, 2009
Happiest days of my life were spent in Haddenham ... from the age of newborn (1939)to 8 years old ... every year, until I was 18 my mother and I returned to the Rose and Thistle for a couple of weeks holiday .. she had mad many friends there, the Birches, the Greens,Olivers, Kemps, Makepieces, Hydes, Knelmes (wrong spelling!) ... we lived in those years on Station road. It was the sweetest place to live and still holds many happy memories, so lovely with the villiage pond .... I remember finding newts there and of course Pond Close where we would picnic and fish for sticklebacks with homemade nets. Although living in Australia it still has an indescribable pull (last visited in 2003) and I am left with a yearning to see it again and I'm hoping to visit again with my daughter (who is 33 years old) and stay at the Rose and Thistle.
