VISITOR REVIEW...
Rosemary writes "We took the opportunity for a mini break in the area before we went to the Carnival although the weather was against us at times. However after a day's persistent rain on Sat. it was a relief to see that it had cleared up a bit on the Sun. The Carnival was great fun - a lovely venue for a family event and excellent value for £2. There was a colourful eclectic mix of music and performances, although it was difficult to catch everything as there were 4 stages. The dance stage provided a good variety. My husband particularly enjoyed the belly dancers! David Sneddon looking very smart was in fine form managing to keep a straight face after the unusual intro. by the MC. SLTL became 'Stop living' by David Sindon. It was lovely to hear 'Don't Let Go' again and 'Wish you well' was a nice surprise. The crowd were very receptive and I noticed several were singing along to SLTL. and it got the biggest cheer proving IMO that he will have to keep it in his repertoire in this type of event whether he likes it or not. David Mullins as usual provided the perfect accompaniment. Before he had to leave David spent time signing a few autographs. After David a troupe of African dancers Gandawi brought over by the organisers from Ghana performed a colourful and fascinating set of songs and dances although they must have felt rather cold in the chilly summer weather. Other highlights for me were the acoustic duo Wingin' It who lived up to their name, Indiana Gregg who worked the audience well and sang up - beat songs in a country style and finally The Peatbog Faeries - I'm a sucker for ceilidh bands - must be the Irish in me and they got the whole crowd going. They announced that they could only do a short set as everything was running so late, but they played a few encores and in fact we had to leave them still fiddling as we had a long drive back home although not as far as the 2 Davids!"
