Born 1707. Died 1788 - English hymnwriter, founder of Methodism.
Brother of John Wesley. Studied at Christ Church, Oxford. Formed group known as Holy Club or Oxford Methodists. Ordained in 1735. Became an evangelist and wrote over 5,000 hymns.
