I am replying to Peter Pinnock! Pauline Tinsley certainly is NOT dead unless it is a ghost I go and visit on a regular basis! I think she will be quite amused to know that you have reported her as deceased! Also her birthday is 27th March 1928 not repeat not 28th November 1928, which means she recently celebrated her 83rd birthday and she had many contributions from well wishers. Secondly she does NOT have a Yorkshire accent ? In case you are unaware Wigan is in Lancashire, so she has a Lancs NOT a Yorks accent. Finally the theatre you mentioned in London is the London Coloseum not the Colisium as you have stated. Yes she was the greatest in many roles, the definitive Lady Macbeth, Abigaile (Nabucco), Turandot and Elektra to mention but few. She has been sadly neglected and also should have been Dame Pauline Tinsley an honour many less worthy singers have been awarded!

one of the most exciting sopranos i have ever had the pleasure to hear and see. my friend and i saw every thing she did in the early 70's and 80's and i believe my friend corresponded with her until her death. we met her on several occations and she was always warm and glad to see her fans. three memories will stay with me forever. 1. mary stuart at the colosium 2. electra in nottingham 3. (mad ladies) at the buxton festival sharing a bill with eleonor bron, afterwards we went backstage to see her and asked why two of her fingers were wrapped in plaster!! in her best and amazing yorkshire accent she said "well you have heard the warnings about superglue!!!!" many regards peter
