Born 1641. Died 1713 - English critic and historian.

Son of Roundhead hanged in 1664. Studied at Cambridge. Published translations, works on history, criticisms on poetry and drama. Best remembered for his collection of historical materials known as the Foedera (20 volumes, 1704-35).
