William Rastell

Born in 1508
Died on 27th of August 1565

Born 1508. Died 1565 - English printer and lawyer.

Set up his own printing press in 1529. Printed many of the works of Sir Thomas More as well as many law books. Abandoned printing for law but his friendship with More and his marriage to John Clement’s daughter forced him into exile. He edited and printed works and letters by More in English Works (1557). Exiled again during the reign of Elizabeth I, died abroad.
