Born 1917. Died 1985 - English biochemist and Nobel Prize winner.
Educated at Cambridge. Undertook research into the biochemistryof antibodies. Joint Nobel Prize winner for physiology or medicine in 1972. Elected FRS in 1964. Run over and killed when crossing a road.
