Born 1862 - Mount Aboo, India. Died 1960 - English novelist, dramatist and poet.

Wrote novels set mainly in Devonshire including Lying Prophets (1896) and Widecombe Fair (1913). Successful plays included The Farmer’s Wife (1924) and Yellow Sands (1926).
