Bill – or actually Mark – Bailey was born in Bath on February 24th 1964, the son of a doctor and a nurse. His career has taken in stand-up, comic (along with occasional ‘straight’) acting, most notably in the sublime Black Books, and innumerable appearances on panel and quiz shows from Never Mind the Buzzcocks to QI via Have I Got News for You and Space Cadets. A gifted musician with perfect pitch he frequently builds musical elements into his stage shows. Bailey, a keen ornithologist, has also supported various wildlife causes and presented natural history programmes.
