Tancock is a backstroke swimmer specialising in the 50m distance (setting World Records in the long course version), with gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and World Aquatics Championships to his name. As the 50m backstroke event is not one that features in the Olympics his best performances on that stage have been in the 100m race.
