Original musical interest was in drumming, moved on to Djing. Made first appearance on radio in the late '70s on Radio Invicta 92.4fm. Worked for Capital Radio before moving to BBC Radio 1. Known worldwide by fans of electronic music for hosting programs such as Essential Mix and Essential Selection. Has also worked a record producer. His name is used in Cockney rhyming slang, "It's all gone a bit Pete Tong", for wrong.
