C Northcote Parkinson was a distinguished academic, a professor at the Universities of Malaya, Harvard and Illinois, with a wide range of publications behind him, but he is best remembered for his observation published in a work of 1958 that work expands to fill the time available (and the related element that is less quoted, that subordinates multiply at a fixed rate) that he called (and now the world calls) Parkinson’s Law.
