Born on 9th of November 1897
Died on 7th of June 1978

Norrish won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1967 for his groundbreaking research in flash photolysis, having already been awarded the Davy Medal in 1958. His studies were interrupted by WWI (he was a POW for a time). He was a research fellow at Emmanuel College Cambridge and eventually headed the Physical Chemistry Department at that university.
