Born 1942. Died 1994 - English painter and filmmaker.
Studied painting at Slade School, London. Moved into costume and set design for the Royal Ballet. Worked for Ken Russell as production designer, The Devils (1970). Directed first feature film Sebastiane (1976). Films included Caravaggio (1985), The Last of England (1987) and Edward II (1991). Also directed pop videos and designed for opera and ballet.
