Margaret Storm Jameson was educated at Leeds University and KCL before (after a brief period teaching) she became a full-time writer. She is most remembered for her novels (among them some science fiction), but was a critic (unafraid to speak her mind, she dubbed the work of Yeats ‘the last state in symbolic imbecility’), a dramatist, essayist, short story writer, and also produced several volumes of autobiography.
