BOOK TADCASTER HOTELS

Elaine McDonald
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire
Born in 1943
Died in 000

Elaine McDonald won a Royal Academy of Dance competition for a ballet scholarship in Leeds when she was 11, and later trained at the Royal Ballet School before building a career that saw her regarded by many as one of the finest British ballerinas of her generation. She made headlines for rather sadder reasons later in life, a stroke in 1999 leaving her severely disabled, and a court case about her overnight care (or lack thereof) by her local authority in 2011 leading to much debate about the dignity and independence of those so affected.
