BOOK ST IVES HOTELS

George Lloyd
- Favourite Briton.

Born in St Ives, Cornwall
Born on 28th of June 1913
Died on 3rd of July 1998

Lloyd came from a musical and artistic background, his parents significant figures within the St Ives Arts Club. He tasted success at an early age, his first symphony given a professional debut (conducted by him) when he was just 19, and his first opera enjoying a long run in London. Shell shock during his WWII service as a Royal Marines Bandsman affected him greatly, and for a time he largely withdrew from music, working in Devon as a market gardener. Later in life, reinvigorated, he produced many more compositions in his late romantic if colourful style.
