Selina, Countess of Huntingdon, was a leader (and major financial supporter) of the early Methodist Church, or more properly as her part of it did not separate from the Anglicans until late in her life, of the Methodist movement. She established a training college near Brecon for the education of its ministers, paid for the building or purchase of 64 chapels, and was a prominent figure in supporting former slaves (if their religious views were in line with hers).
