Made her debut in New York in 1952 and her London debut in 1953 in The Seven Year Itch. Her first film was Beau Brummel in 1954. Her career alternated between Great Britain and the USA. Won a Tony award in 1966 as Eleanor of Aquitaine in The Lion in Winter. Mother of the actress Jennifer Ehle.
