Born 1947 - English actor.
Studied at Manchester University as a mature student. Became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Well known in the films A Private Function (1985) and Withnail and I (1987). Appeared on television in the series Pie in the Sky (1994 –95). Appears in the Harry Potter films as Uncle Vernon. Won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play, in The History Boys.
