Born 1540. Died 1594 - English poet.
Studied at Oxford and Cambridge. His best works are a series of eight Eclogues, Epytaphes and Sonnets (1563) and Cupido Conquered. Was an ardent Protestant and his religious and political views are reflected in his poetry.
