As a player Taylor made 189 league appearances for Grimsby and played 150 games for Lincoln. His career as a manager spanned 36 years and including managerial positions with England, Lincoln, Watford, Aston Villa and Wolves. Retired from management at the end of the 2000-2001 season. Awarded the OBE in 2001.
