Born 1920 - Jockey and writer of fiction novels.

Became professional jockey at age of 28, Champion Jockey in the 1953-54 season. Retired in 1957 and became racing correspondent. Began writing thrillers with a racing background publishing first thriller, Dead Cert, in 1962. Won Golden Dagger Award of American Crime Writers’ Association in 1980. Written over novels including Come to Grief (1995), Second Wind (1999) and Shattered (2000).
