Founded and ran the Habitat Company (1971). Involved in other businesses including Conran Stores and Habitat Mothercare and restaurants such as Le Pont de la Tour. Written a number of books on interior design, gardening and cookery including The House Book (1974) and The Essential Home Book (1994). Knighted in 1983.
