An English motor magnate, he first started out in the bicycle repair business, in 1901 designed the Morris motor cycle, and by 1910 was manufacturing prototypes of Morris Oxford Cars at Cowley, Oxford. He pioneered the introduction of mass producing cheap cars, and in 1928 launched the Morris Minor. He was raised to the peerage in 1934.
