An English sculptor, he gained worldwide recognition when he exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1952. His works are usually in bronze and are of semi-abstract figures such as People in the Wind (1950). He was awarded a CBE in 1969 and became a member of the Royal Academy in 1994.
